The Future of OpenERP – Warehouse Management System (WMS)

One of the improvents planned for OpenERP version 8 is for the Warehouse Management System (WMS).

After a deep analysis of the current WMS in OpenERP, some of the changes planned for OpenERP version 8 WMS are:
  • Routing of Products: use of removal/putaway strategies in addition to push/pull rules and definition of Routes
  • New packing interface
  • New concept of quants to speed up the stock computation and the process
  • Implementation of real time costing methods such as FIFO, FEFO, LIFO...
  • More to be included......
There is no implementation for now, but there was a presentation that OpenERP did during the OpenERP Open Days 2013.
